Alhamdulillah, we are blessed to share incredible news with our Glasgow community. The Al-Farooq Education and Community Centre (AFECC) has officially acquired a historic building on Daisy Street, Govanhill, now named AFECC Community Halls. This new Glasgow Muslim community centre will serve as a welcoming hub for learning, support, and spiritual growth—right in the heart of the neighbourhood.
For too long, families in this area have faced significant challenges. Many residents struggled with the lack of nearby mosques and accessible spaces for prayer, classes, or community support. With limited youth services, a shortage of safe spaces, and no structured activities within walking distance, many young people drifted away from their community, values, and religious grounding. We knew this was a gap we had a responsibility to fill.
We created the AFECC Daisy street project because we believe no one should feel disconnected, unseen, or unsupported — not in a place they call home.
Al-Farooq Education & Community Centre has long served the Muslim community in Glasgow. With the acquisition of the Daisy Street structure, we are now able to extend our services beyond Dixon Avenue and bring vital support closer to families in Govanhill.
This expansion marks a significant step forward in establishing a secure, accessible, and community-driven centre for all.

This centre has been designed with the community at its heart. Once completed, the AFECC Community Halls will offer a wide range of facilities, including:
But today, that dream is still under construction.
These facilities will make the centre a cornerstone of Islamic education in Glasgow.
Although the vision is clear, the building is still undergoing essential renovations. As a historic structure, it requires substantial upgrades before it can safely serve the community. From structural repairs to interior development, from prayer areas to classrooms — every improvement takes us one step closer to opening the doors and welcoming the first family into the AFECC Community Halls.
This is community hall renovation charity project, and we cannot complete it without your generosity
